4 policemen were guarding the St. Lucia’s Church at Pallimunai in Mannar on Christmas Eve, when the LTTE hurled grenades at them early morning after the midnight mass at 1:30 a.m., which killed one policeman. After the incident, the people at the church were agitated. Somapala (40) of Madawachi was killed and the other 3 injured policemen were taken to the Anuradhapuram Hospital. At the same time, last night (24-12-06) at 8:30 p.m., the LTTE had hurled grenades at the Mannar Hospital guardroom. The same way they attacked the navy last year on the 23rd of December.
